Please do be aware that I work with the sidereal zodiac which considers astrology from the actual placement of the stars in the current time. A quick 101 on Sidereal Astrology The word sidereal means "of, or calculated by, the stars". Sounds pretty obvious when we're talking about astrology doesn't it?! This is the way that our ancient ancestors first began to practise astronomy and astrology - by looking at the stars, the planets, the constellations themselves. So how is this different to the standard practise of astrology that most people are used to? Well, around 2000 years ago the stars matched the seasons and at the Equinox in March (Spring in the northern hemisphere) the Sun moved into the constellation of Aries. Tropical Western (aka 'common or garden'!) astrology has continued to view the astrological calendar in this way, ie. the March Equinox is fixed as the beginning of Aries season and everything else follows from that. However, in the 2nd century BC, a Greek astronomer called Hipparchus, discovered that there is a tiny but gradual shift in the orientation of the Earth's axis of rotation, called precession. Truth or Dare: what does speaking your truth mean and why you should care Do you regularly speak your truth? Do you know what that means? Do you care?! Healthy environment...happy, healthy you! We have been incredibly focussed on our immediate surroundings during 2020.  The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to stay away from many places in which we would normally spend a lot of time.  It has meant that the majority of the population has had to move their whole lives into the home for working, schooling, exercising, shopping (online of course) and leisure activities. Just an easy one for this month’s blog! But in all seriousness, really the main reason that people end up in front of me in my Holistic Health & Wellbeing studio is that they have a problem with relaxation. When you don’t relax and you’re in a constant state of stress your brain thinks your life is in danger and your sympathetic nervous system (fight, flight, freeze) remains in charge. When your parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, be) does not get its shift being boss, certain parts of you will go on strike because they never get a break. In world where it is so easy to constantly compare yourself to others and the ‘ideal’ portrayed online, it is pretty common to spend a lot of time feeling like you are coming up short. Unfortunately the human brain is designed to focus on the negative 2.5 times more than it focuses on the positive. This is a protective mechanism. The brains of our ancestors were designed around their need to be constantly aware of potential physical dangers and react accordingly to enable the survival of the species.
