Cancer Season

Now that we’ve exhausted ourselves with all the buzzing around (mentally if not physically) of the Gemini Season, it’s time to come back home for some nourishing, protective nurturance during Cancer Season. Please do be aware that I work with the sidereal zodiac, which considers astrology from the actual placement of the stars in the current time. You can check this out for a quick 101 on Sidereal Astrology. Sidereal Cancer - July 18th to August 8th The Sun actually rises in the constellation of Cancer from 18th July through to 8th August.  Cancer is a small constellation so its season runs for only 3 weeks. And, yes if you read up about sidereal astrology, these dates are not set in stone, over almost three quarters of a century the dates will change by one day, in accordance with precession. So Who Needs to Really Read this? People who are born between July 17th (NB see above comment about the dates changing; what this means is depending on how old the person is they may have been born into Cancer season even if they were born on the 17th July) and August 8th. Being born between these dates means that your ‘Sun’ sign is in Cancer and you identify as a Cancer. You most likely see yourself as gentle, caring, sensitive and brimming with empathy! People who know their astrology

Gemini Season

And just like that we have arrived in the buzzy, talkative changeable season of Gemini! Please do be aware that I work with the sidereal zodiac, which considers astrology from the actual placement of the stars in the current time. You can check this out for a quick 101 on Sidereal Astrology. Sidereal Gemini - June 21st to July 17th The Sun actually rises in the constellation of Gemini from 21st June through to 17th July.  Gemini is a pretty ‘average’ sized constellation so its season runs for almost 4 weeks. And, yes if you read up about sidereal astrology, these dates are not set in stone, over almost three quarters of a century the dates will change in accordance with precession. So Who Needs to Really Read this? People who are born between June 20th (NB see above comment about the dates changing; what this means is that depending on how old the person is they may have been born into Gemini season even if they were born on the 20th June and not the 21st) and July 17th. Being born between these dates means that your ‘Sun’ sign is in Gemini and you identify as a Gemini. You most likely see yourself as curious, quick, witty and fun! People who know their astrology chart and can identify that either their Moon or their Ascendant (Rising) is in Gemini.

Taurus Season

Welcome to the grounded, pleasure loving season of Taurus! Please do be aware that I work with the sidereal zodiac, which considers astrology from the actual placement of the stars in the current time. You can check this out for a quick 101 on Sidereal Astrology. Sidereal Taurus - May 13th to June 19th The Sun actually rises in the constellation of Taurus from 13th May through to 19th June.  Taurus is a reasonably large constellation so this is for more than 5 weeks. And, yes if you read up about sidereal astrology, these dates are not set in stone, over a period of 72 years the dates will change in accordance with precession. So Who Needs to Really Read this? People who are born between May 12th and June 19th (NB see above comment about the dates changing; what this means is that depending on how old the person is they may have been born into Taurus season even if they were born on the 12th May and not the 13th)– that means that their ‘Sun’ sign is in Taurus and they identify as a Taurus. In other words they see themselves as patient, reliable and productive. People who know their astrology chart and can identify that either their Moon or their Ascendant (Rising) is in Taurus. If your Moon is in Taurus this means that you need to

How to get in touch with your Spiritual side

How to get in touch with your spiritual side How "spiritual" are you? Do you have a regular spiritual practise?  What do either of those questions even mean to you? Well, I'm guessing that if you decided to read this Blog you would like to bring some more spirituality into your life!  The good news is that you're about to learn some entirely practical ways to get in touch with your spiritual side, and once you have opened that connection it will be much easier for you to relate to and feel 'spiritual'. Connection Energy I call your spiritual side your "Connection Energy".  This is the last of the 7 Essential Energies and is more commonly known as the 7th or Crown Chakra.  I call it Connection Energy because to me it is all about connecting ourselves to the collective energy of humanity, connecting to all other living beings in whatever way is meaningful to us, and also connecting to any higher powers that you may believe in.  What do I mean by higher powers? I mean Gods, Ancestors, Spirits, Universal Energy and your Higher Self or Soul.  What I mean, is really whatever higher powers mean to you... The centre of your connection energy in the physical body is on the very top of your head. This energy is on the same vibration as the colour white on the

Aries Season

I’m just getting this Blog in on time before Aries season is actually over! Please do be aware that I work with the sidereal zodiac which considers astrology from the actual placement of the stars in the current time. A quick 101 on Sidereal Astrology The word sidereal means "of, or calculated by, the stars". Sounds pretty obvious when we're talking about astrology doesn't it?! This is the way that our ancient ancestors first began to practise astronomy and astrology - by looking at the stars, the planets, the constellations themselves. So how is this different to the standard practise of astrology that most people are used to? Well, around 2000 years ago the stars matched the seasons and at the Equinox in March (Spring in the northern hemisphere) the Sun moved into the constellation of Aries. Tropical Western (aka 'common or garden'!) astrology has continued to view the astrological calendar in this way, ie. the March Equinox is fixed as the beginning of Aries season and everything else follows from that. However, in the 2nd century BC, a Greek astronomer called Hipparchus, discovered that there is a tiny but gradual shift in the orientation of the Earth's axis of rotation, called precession. What this means is that over thousands of years the view of the stars from the Earth has shifted so that at the March Equinox the Sun

How to improve your Intuition, some insights

How to improve your Intuition, some insights Intuition.  We all have it.  We don't all use it.  How about you? Ever had that gut feel about something but then let your logical mind take over the decision making process, only to find out later that your gut feel was spot on?! I'm sure every human being on the planet can relate to that scenario. So, do you want to know how to improve your intuition? Like everything else, intuition is energy, and it is intricately connected with all other energies in the universe.  In western culture however, this great power that we all have is dismissed, derided, and discarded most of the time. Intuition is one aspect of the 6th essential energy, often called the Third Eye, or 6th Chakra, but what I like to refer to as your Insight Energy.  On the colour spectrum this energetic vibration appears as a deep blue-purple colour, often called indigo. Just like any other energy your Insight Energy can be stimulated or blocked, balanced or imbalanced.  To find out how to improve your intuition, read on!  But before you do that, tune in - what does your intuition tell you about this activity, is it something you should do now or not? What you need to know about your Insight Energy Having balanced Insight Energy means: Intuition Attunement to your predictive abilities and

Truth or Dare: what does ‘speaking your truth’ mean and why you should care

Truth or Dare: what does speaking your truth mean and why you should care Do you regularly speak your truth? Do you know what that means? Do you care?! Of course we all have our own version of the truth. Sometimes your version of the truth will be the same as someone else’s and sometimes it won’t. It can be incredible the number of different truths out there about the same thing! My truth about what ‘speaking your truth’ means is that it encompasses freely expressing your thoughts and feelings verbally. In many circumstances this can be much easier said than done (no pun intended!) Some people find it incredibly easy, and may even perhaps talk too much and too often, but in my experience these people are not as commonly found as those of us who find it tricky to use our voices. Energetically and metaphysically speaking the energy of how well and how easily you use your voice comes from what I like to call the Truth Energy Centre. You may have heard this also called your Throat Chakra. It is the 5th of 7 essential energies, which impact and are affected by every aspect of your life and your wellbeing.  These essential energies are the focus of my work as a healer and holistic health coach. What you need to know about your Truth Energy Having balanced

Healthy Environment…happy, healthy you!

Healthy environment...happy, healthy you! We have been incredibly focussed on our immediate surroundings during 2020.  The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to stay away from many places in which we would normally spend a lot of time.  It has meant that the majority of the population has had to move their whole lives into the home for working, schooling, exercising, shopping (online of course) and leisure activities. So, what better subject to end the year on, than a good hard look at what is important in terms of having the most healthy environment possible around you.  Of course it's important to look at your home because that is where you go to relax and unwind, and especially where you sleep. But if you normally spend many of the hours of your week in a workplace it is also important to consider everything below in relation to that location as well.  Is your work place a healthy environment? Surroundings Surroundings is one of the aspects of Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing™ - the other four being Food, Movement, Sleep and Being.  Each of these 5 aspects cannot be considered the one key to overall wellbeing.  They are intimately entwined and need to be viewed as 5 parts of a whole - my holistic approach!  I will introduce all five components in the content below, but to start with lets look at some

2020 Festive Season: 5 steps to making the most of it

2020 Festive Season: 5 steps to making the most of it It’s been said too many times, but, 2020! What a year, huh?! Yes many of us will be really glad to see the back of it and move into youthful, effervescent sounding 2021! However, we still have the most stressful part of this year (and any year) to get through – the Festive Season! Incorporating different celebrations depending on where you live and what your beliefs are, the period from mid November through to the New Year is one that is inevitably jam packed with, well, festivities! Perhaps what has occurred during 2020, and the global pandemic of COVID-19, will make more people value and understand the benefits of slowing life down somewhat. However, for many people, especially if you’ve just come out of lockdown (cause to celebrate in itself!) there is quite possibly a sense of having to make up for lost time and really cram as much celebrating as possible into the 2020 Festive Season. In order for you to have as much energy and balance as you possibly can during the 2020 Festive Season why not take an Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing™ approach! Here are my suggestions for you, plus the all important gift ideas too: Food Feeding the troops It can be so much easier to get takeaway or buy pre-packaged meals when you are short

Exam Prep, the 5 Star Way

Exam Prep, the 5 Star Way Here in Australia we’re getting to the pointy end of the academic year, and thousands of our young people are about to go into a different kind of lockdown - the lockdown of exam prep! 2020 has been such a difficult year, especially for those in their final year of high school, like my oldest son. And no where have they had it as tough as we have here in Melbourne, Victoria. So this year more than any other I wanted to share some ideas for helping your loved ones, or yourself, through the exam prep period and of course the exams themselves. Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing™ is the approach to holistic health that I have developed and it brings in everything that is essential for you to be as well as you possibly can be: Food, Movement, Sleep, Surroundings and Being. So, let’s look at exam prep with this approach. Food Caffeine Make sure that you keep your caffeine intake to a minimum. A couple of cups of tea or coffee a day is okay but don’t let it become too many more. Perhaps more importantly, enjoy your caffeine in the morning and then swap your usual afternoon caffeinated hot drink for a herbal tea or lemon juice in hot water. Caffeine has a half life of 12 hours (ie. half of the
