Virgo Season

With Virgo season upon us we’re almost halfway through the zodiac Wheel of the Year! Once you get 50% through something you’ve learnt a lot and you really want to start perfecting it.  This is the energy of Virgo season, supporting us to refine ourselves in order to better serve. Being born between these dates means that your ‘Sun’ sign is in Cancer and

Aries Season

I’m just getting this Blog in on time before Aries season is actually over! Please do be aware that I work with the sidereal zodiac which considers astrology from the actual placement of the stars in the current time. A quick 101 on Sidereal Astrology The word sidereal means "of, or calculated by, the stars". Sounds pretty obvious when we're talking about astrology doesn't it?! This is the way that our ancient ancestors first began to practise astronomy and astrology - by looking at the stars, the planets, the constellations themselves. So how is this different to the standard practise of astrology that most people are used to? Well, around 2000 years ago the stars matched the seasons and at the Equinox in March (Spring in the northern hemisphere) the Sun moved into the constellation of Aries. Tropical Western (aka 'common or garden'!) astrology has continued to view the astrological calendar in this way, ie. the March Equinox is fixed as the beginning of Aries season and everything else follows from that. However, in the 2nd century BC, a Greek astronomer called Hipparchus, discovered that there is a tiny but gradual shift in the orientation of the Earth's axis of rotation, called precession. What this means is that over thousands of years the view of the stars from the Earth has shifted so that at the March Equinox the Sun

New Year Lunar Eclipse Meditation and Ritual

We honour, respect and give our thanks to the spirits and guardians of this place, where we will carry out this New Year Lunar Eclipse ceremony of meditation and ritual, as well as its traditional custodians past, present and future. The January 2020 full moon is in the sign of Cancer, at the start of a new year and a new decade. Not only is it a full moon but also a lunar eclipse, which occurs when the earth lies between the moon and the sun blocking the moon from reflecting the sun’s light. It is a penumbrial lunar eclipse on this occasion which means there is not a perfect line up of the planets (stars) and only part of the moon’s bright orb will be shadowed. The moon loves being in Cancer as the ruling planet of this sign, and in 2019 there was not actually a full moon in Cancer. This, combined with the extra energy of the eclipse, will result in a very potent lunar energy available to us. Cancer is a sensitive water sign and rules emotion, especially the heart, as well as family relationships. The releasing energy of the full moon should mean that working with it will help to heal hearts and balance family and home dynamics.  Cancer also governs self care so it is the perfect time to set intentions around looking after

Balanced Relationships with the Double Libra Full Moon

The April 2019 full moon is known as a Double Full Moon because it is the second month in a row that she appears in the sign of Libra.  We all know Libra as the sign of balance, and this moon is certainly providing us with the energy to work towards this with a special focus on our relationships.  The power of the double full moon brings things that were hidden to the surface. Energetic balance in relationships When considering the relationships in our lifes it can be useful to think about which people and relationships give us energy and which drain our energy.  This is critical if we are to have energetic balance.  If we feel that we are constantly giving too much of our energy to other people, or they are draining it from us with their physical, emotional or spiritual demands it is impossible to remain balanced. The energy of the full moon allows provides support for finishing, closing off and letting go what has been happening over the last month.  With a double full moon this is especially powerful.  The space between the two Libra full moons provided an opportunity for us to really create the beginnings of whatever we wanted to bring into our lives – I hope you used this energy wisely? But this strong energetic portal of manifestation is now closing with the

Autumn Equinox – release, integrate and manifest

The third week in multi-coloured March – filled with weather of all varieties (here in Victoria at least!), the last of the summer fruits and the first of the winter ones – brings us a super special time to celebrate both the Full Moon (in Libra this month) and the Autumn Equinox.  Their energies are very complementary supporting release and balance. Bring the Yin back in Autumn is the time of year where we can take the hint from the leaves on the trees and really start to let go of the things that have become hard and dry and no longer nourish us.  The leaves that were green – the beating heart of the tree, allowing the plant to feed itself – are changing. Their colours are turning orange and red and reminding us that we need to begin to ground again, to return to the energies of our sacral and root chakras, to reconnect with the earth – to slow and turn inwards again, accessing our own Yin energy once more after the firey heat and outward focussed Yang energy of summer. Traditionally Autumn is a time to harvest and celebrate the glorious gifts we are receiving but at this time we also need to acknowledge that the soil, the earth that provides our food, now needs to rest. The warmth of summer is gently nestling behind us and
