Welcome to the Evenstar Wellbeing Good Gift Guide! Gifts that are gorgeous for people and great for planet. On 12 days (of Christmas) during this Festive Season I will share with you, on each of my social media channels, my top tips for buying gifts that are gorgeous for people and great for planet - a holistically GOOD gift guide! I have tried to capture the things that seem to be 'go to' gifts for people that you want to buy something fairly generic for because, well, because a multitude of possible reasons! Look out for the posts on your favourite social media platform. The details of what each of my suggestions are, where you can get these products, and most importantly how to access a discount (where available) will be here on the Blog. Please note, that other than my very first recommendation, for DoTerra Essential Oils, I do not have any affiliation with the products or companies I am recommending and get no financial reward for my recommendation. Where I have personally used a product myself I will give that as my first recommendation, otherwise I am passing on recommendations from other sources in whom I have complete trust and respect. I'd like to acknowledge the wonderful Alexx at Low Tox Life for providing access to the discount codes. I will capture 4 posts per Good Gift Guide
Plastic. It's everywhere these days because it is so convenient. Cheap to produce (a petroleum bi-product), strong, light, easy to clean and literally indestructible. But as with many 'indispensable' things that modern society has adopted due to their convenience, plastics are not only having a massive impact on the health of the planet (through production pollution and at the other end of their lifespan, as waste) but they are also contributing to the ever growing epidemic of lifestyle diseases through their affect on hormones. Plastics - hormone disruptors Some of the chemicals used to manufacture plastics are hormone disruptive, with phthalates and BPA being the worst offenders. Please also refer to my Blog On the Nose in regards to phthalates in synthetic fragrances. What does hormone disruptive mean, and why does this even matter, after all a lot of the time hormones get a pretty bad press? In actual fact hormones are vital chemical messengers that coordinate the processes of growth, metabolism and fertility. In addition, hormones help to control the immune system. Hormone disruption can mean several things, including that the chemicals (such as BPA and phthalates): mimic hormones, interfere with the production of hormones, prevent the effective utilisation of hormones, cause generalised inflammation (due to immune system compromise) and they can also impede the detoxification processes required with excess hormones. Doesn't my body deal with chemical exposure itself?
In this video I discuss the world of synthetic fragrances, and specifically the dangerous chemical that is used to make these fragrances last longer: phthalates. When you think about it synthetic fragrances are all around us! There are the obvious things like perfume, after shave, deodorant, air 'fresheners' and scented candles. (When it comes to scented candles please have a look at my Blog The Glow of Wellbeing) And then there are the less obvious things like cleaning products, beauty products, personal care products, and laundry products, which all come with fragrance that definitely does not come from any natural source (like actual pine needles in your 'forest fresh' toilet cleaner!) Lastly there's the downright ridiculous things such as scented toys, stickers and even garbage bin liners - like some fake lavender scent is ever going to overtake the smell of your 3 day old household waste!! On the nose The problem with synthetic fragrances and the phthalates that they contain is that they are hormone disruptors, meaning that they interfere with the natural hormone processes in the human body. Hormones pretty much control everything that goes on inside you and you want them to be able to do that uninterrupted. Phthalates have been associated with: decreased sperm count pregnancy loss decreased size of testicles in infants gestational diabetes breast cancer asthma and allergies To avoid phthalates next time you're

Headache and migraine are unfortunately one of the most common wellbeing complaints that I come across in my practise. As with any physical health or wellbeing concern, it is important to get to the underlying cause in order to prevent constant reoccurrence. If we just keep taking painkillers we are ignoring the message that our body is sending us about something that needs to be dealt with on all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. In this video I discuss how to determine the root causes of headache and migraine as well as how to go about managing and treating the problem in a holistic way so that you can reduce the frequency and severity - and perhaps even prevent - future episodes. I talk about things that you can do from all aspects of Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing - Food, Movement, Sleep, Surroundings and Being. Essential Oils can be extremely helpful when dealing with Headache & Migraine. In my own home I do not have pain-killers in the first aid kit because I find that oils are more beneficial and less harmful for my family than medications. The ones that I find best are: Peppermint Past Tense If you'd prefer to read the full text of this Blog, rather than watching the video, it was published by Sivana East. Reiki healing is a wonderful way to treat underlying
How often do you show and tell your authentic self to the world? So often in this modern world of social media we only share the good stuff, which is really not a true depiction of our whole selves and what we think and feel and have to say. My prediction is that there will be ever-increasing numbers of people with emotional, mental and physical issues that stem from imbalance in the Throat chakra, which is the energy centre associated with Truth - being authentic, being open and making decisions. The Throat is the 5th Chakra out of 7 – the 7 main energy centres that we all have, and where our bodies (on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) are especially open to receiving energy. The areas of the physical body where throat chakra imbalances manifest are: Throat and thyroid conditions Thyroid conditions Fast or slow metabolism and weight management issues Very large or very small appetite Very large or very small mouth Regular indigestion and/ or bad breath Super fast or super slow eating style Ear and nose problems Heightened or reduced senses of taste, smell, or hearing Problems with teeth or jaw (including TMJ pain) Neck pain Dry, chapped lips In the video I discuss other personality, mental and emotional signs of throat chakra imbalance, as well as ways that you can bring balance back

We're up to the Heart in my series of Blogs about balancing your Chakras - the 7 main energy centres that we all have, and where our bodies (on all levels - physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) are especially open to receiving energy. We must first love ourselves before we can love others in any sustainable way but if we are constantly giving our love away to others we often don’t have enough left for ourselves. This is why balance in the heart chakra is essential. The heart chakra is the air element energy centre and develops during the fourth decade of life, the 30s – when it is common for people to partner up, settle down and start their own families. The areas of the physical body where heart chakra imbalances manifest are: heart conditions, including abnormal heart rate asthma, and other respiratory conditions generalised anxiety sleep apnea lung conditions poor circulation hot or cold hands blood pressure issues breast problems, including lumps and cancers and conditions affecting the arms and hands. In the video I discuss other personality, mental and emotional signs of heart chakra imbalance, as well as ways that you can bring balance back again. If you prefer to read the full Blog, it was featured by Sivana East. The essential oils that I mention are: For overactivity Melissa – will help to promote gratitude instead
This is the third of my Blogs focusing on the holistic health view Chakras and this one is all about the 3rd Chakra - the solar plexus energy centre - which governs our overall sense of Power, Energy and Balance.💥💛🍋🌞 If you would prefer to read the full piece instead of, or as well as, watching the video, it was published by Sivana East. We have 7 main energy centres in the body. These energy centres operate on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Different systems call the energy centres different names, but almost all traditional systems of medicine recognise these energy centres as well as other minor energy centres, and energy pathways. In my practice I refer to the energy centres as the Chakras – which comes from the Indian tradition. Many energy healers work with the Chakras. Chakras are areas where the body is very open to receiving energy, from all sources. When it becomes imbalanced the flow of energy into the chakra is depleted or even prevented. Each chakra governs and works with specific areas of physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. To get your FREE copy of my Chakra Balancing Ebook click here. Balance in any of the Chakras works on a spectrum, so if you can relate to extremes in any of these areas you may have an imbalanced 3rd Chakra: how energetic you feel in
