How often do you show and tell your authentic self to the world? So often in this modern world of social media we only share the good stuff, which is really not a true depiction of our whole selves and what we think and feel and have to say. My prediction is that there will be ever-increasing numbers of people with emotional, mental and physical issues that stem from imbalance in the Throat chakra, which is the energy centre associated with Truth - being authentic, being open and making decisions. The Throat is the 5th Chakra out of 7 – the 7 main energy centres that we all have, and where our bodies (on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) are especially open to receiving energy. Mould: the phantom menace

Many very common symptoms such as fatigue, joint pain, respiratory congestion and brain fog can be caused by a silent and often-undiagnosed household toxin - mould! Essential Oils for Hayfever As discussed in the video, having a series of energy healing sessions with the intention of overcoming allergies will be beneficial. Healthy Teeth, Healthy You

This week (beginning 6thAugust 2018) is Dental Health Week in Australia. Although for many people it may seem an odd thing for a holistic wellbeing practitioner to bring to your attention, in fact it is right down my alley! Here at Evenstar my work is focused on 5 Star Wellbeing, which is what I believe are the 5 key areas that we all need to get right if we want to live a life of real health and wellness.  These areas are Food, Sleep, Movement, Surroundings and Being. I do often talk about Food because, well, food!  But seriously, I truly believe that our diet and digestive system are the primary source of either good or poor health.  Sometimes we forget that our mouth is actually the beginning of our digestive tract, with our teeth and saliva beginning the process of breaking down food. Good Food = Good Dental Health The best possible way to look after your dental health is to eat whole foods from the earth, and funnily enough this is one of the best ways to look after your overall wellbeing too! Let’s start off our celebration of Dental health week with the startling fact that 85% of people who have heart attacks, also have gum disease.  Although the causative relationship behind this statistic has not yet been determined this is a clear indication that our dental health

The Power of Pain

This video on the Power of Pain was recorded during National Pain Week (23-29th July 2018). In it I discuss the following aspects of pain: its purpose the metaphysical point of view my own recent experience with it treating it holistically with reiki using essential oils to treat it The Essential Oils I talk about Essential oils also work on all energetic levels of the body and provide a beautiful take home tool (for those not trained in Reiki!) to continue their treatment.  Essential oils all have a particular emotional journey that they help us to move along, which is perfect when we want to tackle the underlying emotional causes of our pain, without even necessarily knowing what they are. Interestingly all of the essential oils that have strong analgesic (pain killing) properties also help us with being emotionally stuck, constricted, fearful or controlled, which is so important when we remember that pain is giving us a message to stop and reassess something in our life. My top pick is Rosemary because it is strongly analgesic and also helps to eliminate emotional restrictions that prevent us from moving toward our higher purpose. Other oils that are useful here are: peppermint (especially where you need focus), fennel (especially where you feel unfulfilled), ginger (especially where you feel depleted), lavender (especially where you feel neglected), marjoram (especially where you feel anxious), and

Cold & Flu: the natural essentials

In south eastern Australia we are well and truly into the wintery weather!  A week of grey skies and rain here in Melbourne has certainly taken its toll on my mood! But I am so grateful for the beauty of my garden and the fullness of my water tanks! When we hit winter unfortunately many of the nasty viruses that lurk around seem to proliferate and most people struggle to get through the season without at least one cold or other respiratory infection of some kind. Our bodies are designed to heal themselves so rather than reaching for the cold and flu tablets what else can you do to avoid and overcome winter viruses? Metaphysics of getting a cold When we have a cold or flu our body is giving us a message to STOP.  When your grandmother used to tell you to “rest and keep up your fluids’ when you had a cold she was perfectly correct. Unfortunately though in modern Western society the norm is to ‘soldier on’ and keep leading our normal lives whilst masking the symptoms of our illness with medication. The inherent harm of treating symptoms rather than underlying causes is blatantly obvious here!  How many times have you soldiered on, and thought you had weathered the storm, only to be bedridden by the tornado of a much more serious illness a few weeks later?  

Men’s Health Week: improving work life with Reiki

The theme of Men’s Health Week 2018 (11th-18thJune) is “Men & Families – making healthy connections”.  I love this multi-faceted theme! We can take from it that improved family connections can improve the health of men (and women, for that matter), that family can be very influential on the wellbeing of men, and that the emotional wellbeing of both men and women is dependent on connection with other humans and finding the right tribe.  Unfortunately it seems that men in general are not nearly as good at making and sustaining healthy connections as women are and this is one of the contributing factors to men’s health being overall a lot worse than women’s health.  Men die younger, have more preventable diseases, more accidents and a greater risk of lifestyle related disease than women, which is why Men’s Health Week is a thing! Men seek advice and interventions for symptoms at a rate that is much slower and less frequent than women, almost certainly contributing to their higher rates of disease and early morbidity.  What we really want everyone to do is to work on prevention and looking at underlying causes, rather than just band-aid solutions and treating symptoms. Western culture dictates that men should be outwardly strong, independent and largely silent about what is going on inside of them on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.  Men are
