Healthy environment...happy, healthy you! We have been incredibly focussed on our immediate surroundings during 2020. The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to stay away from many places in which we would normally spend a lot of time. It has meant that the majority of the population has had to move their whole lives into the home for working, schooling, exercising, shopping (online of course) and leisure activities. So, what better subject to end the year on, than a good hard look at what is important in terms of having the most healthy environment possible around you. Of course it's important to look at your home because that is where you go to relax and unwind, and especially where you sleep. But if you normally spend many of the hours of your week in a workplace it is also important to consider everything below in relation to that location as well. Is your work place a healthy environment? Surroundings Surroundings is one of the aspects of Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing™ - the other four being Food, Movement, Sleep and Being. Each of these 5 aspects cannot be considered the one key to overall wellbeing. They are intimately entwined and need to be viewed as 5 parts of a whole - my holistic approach! I will introduce all five components in the content below, but to start with lets look at some
Just an easy one for this month’s blog! But in all seriousness, really the main reason that people end up in front of me in my Holistic Health & Wellbeing studio is that they have a problem with relaxation. When you don’t relax and you’re in a constant state of stress your brain thinks your life is in danger and your sympathetic nervous system (fight, flight, freeze) remains in charge. When your parasympathetic nervous system (rest, digest, be) does not get its shift being boss, certain parts of you will go on strike because they never get a break. Yep I brought this up last Blog as well (Boost your Self Confidence). I believe that the chronic activation of the sympathetic nervous system is a massive health problem in the modern western world. And that was before Covid-19! A global pandemic makes it pretty darn hard for anyone to relax, even if they are normally pretty chill! It’s the lack of control and the great unknown of all aspects of our future lives, nothing able to be planned, nothing to look forward to… What happens when you don’t relax enough Well you remain in a state of freeze, fight or flight, almost permanently! This means that: your blood pressure stays up your digestive system does not work well your heart rate remains elevated blood flow to everything other than skeletal muscles
March New Moon The March new moon occurred when most of us were fast asleep, just before 3am on the morning of Thursday 7thMarch. We can always look forward to new moon energy to help us to set goals and intentions for the coming month. This March new moon is however in the watery sign of Pisces, and so we are really best served to go with the energetic flow – less thinking, more being. This energy continues through until the next full moon on 21st March. It is hard in our left-brain centric world to feel that we can surrender conscious thought and planning, and instead just allow the space for what is meant to come into our lives, to come. At this time we still need to have a clear vision of what it is that we want – the universe will only be confused otherwise – and simply ask for it. Release & Trust Release the need to know how or when your desired person, thing, or outcome will be manifested into your physical world and simply trust that it will. Be open to receiving and what is meant to come to you, for your highest good, will arrive in the divine right time. Of course the right time may not be just now. Relax, breathe, trust. Dropping expectation, ceasing overthinking and over-planning is counter-intuitive to many. But think
For many people in the modern Western world there is a great big disconnect in their ability to see themselves as spiritual beings as well as physical bodies. This really means that most of us are walking around with imbalance in the energy centre that is associated with soulfulness and connection - the 7th Chakra, or Crown Chakra. Some common physical or emotional signs and symptoms of 7th Chakra imbalance are: acute or dulled sense of pain neurological issues numbness having the looks and energy of someone much older or younger than you are sensitivity to surroundings abnormal day/ night patterns headache or migraine pineal gland issues If these are things that you are regularly dealing with in your physical life then you might like to consider bringing back some more balance into the Crown of your energy. This video will give you further insight into how to tell if you do have an imbalanced 7th Chakra and also what to do about it if you do! If you would prefer to read the full text of the Blog, it was published by Sivana. I mention that you can use Crystals and Essential Oils to help promote balance through the Surroundings aspect of Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing. February’s Full Moon occurs on the 19th-20thFebruary – depending on where you are in the world - and rises in the earth sign of Virgo. A full moon always supports us to let go. If you sowed seeds of intention with the new moon earlier in the month the energy of the full moon gives you the chance to review, complete and tie off what you set in motion. Both the new moon and the full moon this month come with a lot of very positive, excited energy, forward looking and adventurous! February’s full moon is the most ‘super’ moon of the year – as this is the closest the moon will be to us during 2019, so be prepared for some very strong energy! We are so distracted these days that it can be extremely difficult to tap into what is often our greatest source of information and guidance - ourselves! Using our insight, intuition and intellect all fall under the energy centre of the 6th Chakra, otherwise known as the 3rd eye. You may have one or more of the following physical conditions if your 3rd Eye is out of balance - either over or under active: Attention deficit disorders, including ADHD Insomnia Sleeping very lightly or not enough Sleeping too much Mood swings Very good or very poor memory Fast/ sharp mind or slow/ dull mind Eye sight problems Eye infections Headache and/ or migraine Cognitive decline or dementia In this video on the 3rd Eye I discuss how you can tell if perhaps you have an imbalance in this energy centre, and need to see it a bit more clearly! Even more importantly, I give you lots of tips on how you can bring balance back to your 6th Chakra using the Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing approach. If you prefer to read all about it, the Blog was published by Sivana East. In the Surroundings aspect of 5 Star Wellbeing I mention that there are crystals and essential oils that you can use to balance your 3rd Eye, these are the ones that I recommend: Crystals Amethyst – mind balancing, addictions,
How often do you show and tell your authentic self to the world? So often in this modern world of social media we only share the good stuff, which is really not a true depiction of our whole selves and what we think and feel and have to say. My prediction is that there will be ever-increasing numbers of people with emotional, mental and physical issues that stem from imbalance in the Throat chakra, which is the energy centre associated with Truth - being authentic, being open and making decisions. The Throat is the 5th Chakra out of 7 – the 7 main energy centres that we all have, and where our bodies (on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) are especially open to receiving energy. The areas of the physical body where throat chakra imbalances manifest are: Throat and thyroid conditions Thyroid conditions Fast or slow metabolism and weight management issues Very large or very small appetite Very large or very small mouth Regular indigestion and/ or bad breath Super fast or super slow eating style Ear and nose problems Heightened or reduced senses of taste, smell, or hearing Problems with teeth or jaw (including TMJ pain) Neck pain Dry, chapped lips In the video I discuss other personality, mental and emotional signs of throat chakra imbalance, as well as ways that you can bring balance back
This time of year, especially in Australia where we tend to run things on the calendar year, we really feel like everything is coming to an end and hopefully most of us also feel like we have the chance of fresh new beginnings with the upcoming new year. Summer feels like it starts in January and any hot weather at the end of the previous year is just warming us up! Many people go like crazy to get everything done ‘before Christmas’ because we really have this sense of an ending. Summer Solstice This weekend we have the Summer Solstice on Saturday and the Full Moon on Sunday (its exact time of fullness is early in the morning on Sunday so you could think of it as Saturday night). And then it’s Christmas Day on Tuesday. So, we are really being supported by the universe in this sense of things coming to a close over the next week. This gives you a great opportunity to work out exactly what it is that you want to let go of from 2018 and plan what exactly it is that you want to bring into your life in 2019. The summer solstice is the longest day of the year – the day that we have the most hours of daylight – and spiritually is a day to really step outside of yourself. Express yourself in the external world, even
