Antibiotics and looking after your gut

Your gut microbiome is super important to overall health and is the first topic in this new video series called "One Thing I Know".  Your gastrointestinal microbiota ("gut microbiome') consists of trillions of bacteria that reside in the digestive tract.  They are imperative for effective digestive function and also for immunity.  At any point your gut microbiome are either increasing or decreasing overall inflammation in your your body.  Inflammation is the natural response of the body to fight infection and disease but when it becomes disregulated chronic illness can result. I am constantly updating my knowledge by reading books and listening to podcasts and taking courses.  A big part of my whole reason for doing what I do is to help people to be better able to improve and maintain their own wellbeing so therefore I love to be able to share new things that I learn. I recently listened to an episode of the Low Top Life podcast (which I HIGHLY recommend) where Alexx was interviewing one of the world's most pre-eminent specialists in the microbiota, Dr Jason Hawrelak.  The chat covers some of the other microbiota that are important to consider including the nasal microbiome and the vaginal microbiome, but something that really leapt out at me was the bit about how to best manage the gut micobiome when we have to take a course of antibiotics. Balanced Relationships with the Double Libra Full Moon

The April 2019 full moon is known as a Double Full Moon because it is the second month in a row that she appears in the sign of Libra.  We all know Libra as the sign of balance, and this moon is certainly providing us with the energy to work towards this with a special focus on our relationships.  The power of the double full moon brings things that were hidden to the surface. Energetic balance in relationships When considering the relationships in our lifes it can be useful to think about which people and relationships give us energy and which drain our energy.  This is critical if we are to have energetic balance.  If we feel that we are constantly giving too much of our energy to other people, or they are draining it from us with their physical, emotional or spiritual demands it is impossible to remain balanced. The energy of the full moon allows provides support for finishing, closing off and letting go what has been happening over the last month.  With a double full moon this is especially powerful.  The space between the two Libra full moons provided an opportunity for us to really create the beginnings of whatever we wanted to bring into our lives – I hope you used this energy wisely? But this strong energetic portal of manifestation is now closing with the

Autumn Equinox – release, integrate and manifest

The third week in multi-coloured March – filled with weather of all varieties (here in Victoria at least!), the last of the summer fruits and the first of the winter ones – brings us a super special time to celebrate both the Full Moon (in Libra this month) and the Autumn Equinox.  Their energies are very complementary supporting release and balance. Bring the Yin back in Autumn is the time of year where we can take the hint from the leaves on the trees and really start to let go of the things that have become hard and dry and no longer nourish us.  The leaves that were green – the beating heart of the tree, allowing the plant to feed itself – are changing. Their colours are turning orange and red and reminding us that we need to begin to ground again, to return to the energies of our sacral and root chakras, to reconnect with the earth – to slow and turn inwards again, accessing our own Yin energy once more after the firey heat and outward focussed Yang energy of summer. Traditionally Autumn is a time to harvest and celebrate the glorious gifts we are receiving but at this time we also need to acknowledge that the soil, the earth that provides our food, now needs to rest. The warmth of summer is gently nestling behind us and

Surrender and Flow in March

March New Moon The March new moon occurred when most of us were fast asleep, just before 3am on the morning of Thursday 7thMarch.  We can always look forward to new moon energy to help us to set goals and intentions for the coming month.  This March new moon is however in the watery sign of Pisces, and so we are really best served to go with the energetic flow – less thinking, more being.  This energy continues through until the next full moon on 21st March. It is hard in our left-brain centric world to feel that we can surrender conscious thought and planning, and instead just allow the space for what is meant to come into our lives, to come.  At this time we still need to have a clear vision of what it is that we want – the universe will only be confused otherwise – and simply ask for it. Release & Trust Release the need to know how or when your desired person, thing, or outcome will be manifested into your physical world and simply trust that it will.  Be open to receiving and what is meant to come to you, for your highest good, will arrive in the divine right time.  Of course the right time may not be just now. Relax, breathe, trust. Dropping expectation, ceasing overthinking and over-planning is counter-intuitive to many. But think

The Jewel in the Crown of your Wellbeing

For many people in the modern Western world there is a great big disconnect in their ability to see themselves as spiritual beings as well as physical bodies.  This really means that most of us are walking around with imbalance in the energy centre that is associated with soulfulness and connection - the 7th Chakra, or Crown Chakra. Some common physical or emotional signs and symptoms of 7th Chakra imbalance are: acute or dulled sense of pain neurological issues numbness having the looks and energy of someone much older or younger than you are sensitivity to surroundings abnormal day/ night patterns headache or migraine pineal gland issues If these are things that you are regularly dealing with in your physical life then you might like to consider bringing back some more balance into the Crown of your energy.  This video will give you further insight into how to tell if you do have an imbalanced 7th Chakra and also what to do about it if you do! If you would prefer to read the full text of the Blog, it was published by Sivana. I mention that you can use Crystals and Essential Oils to help promote balance through the Surroundings aspect of Evenstar 5 Star Wellbeing.  These are the ones that I would recommend for your Crown Chakra: Crystals Diamond – spiritual evolution, life purpose, brain health Sapphire –
